Professional Development Webinars and Seminars

Babb Education provides efficient, quality, customizable Curriculum Development, Course Builds and Professional Development for Higher Education

Our experts have decades of experience in the online higher education space. We are academics that have witnessed institutions struggle with creating engaging professional development that goes outside the usual canned training. We create solutions that are flexible, adaptable, budget-conscious, efficient and do not sacrifice the quality you and your faculty expect.

We have been on the receiving end of robotic professional development webinars and seminars - and likely, you have too! We strive to create engaging, innovative and lively development activities your faculty will want to engage in! We can custom create any other seminars/webinars you would like as well. We welcome your Partnership!

We recognize that your needs may not fit neatly into a box. While all of the webinars and seminars in our always-expanding catalogue are customized for your institution, we also create entirely custom programs specific to your college, university or region. For example, if you wish to have a seminar created on Truth and Reconciliation in Education, your specific learning management system, how to work with your demographic of learners and more, we will find the proper team to build the seminar and deliver a well rehearsed professional development opportunity.

You can choose seminar length and attendance! We suggest a participant cap depending on the type of webinar or seminar you choose based on our experience with questions and answers from faculty, and we will do our best to rehearse into that time frame and for your audience. This option will require dialogue at various points of development, including the selection of topics and an overview of content before we work on production to ensure it fully fits your needs.

Our custom seminars also allow you to choose whether your professional development opportunity is either a recorded seminar that you can re-use, or an engaged webinar with an opportunity for live visuals and engagement. With this option, you select every component you feel would be of most benefit to your faculty.

ChatGPT For Educators

Faculty can use ChatGPT to save time on mundane tasks and focus on their time instead teaching and engaging with learners. This interactive webinar addresses:

  • What IS ChatGPT?
  • Advantages and Disadvantages in Education
  • How does ChatGPT work?
  • Examples of use (syllabus, outlines, quizzes, checklists, and more with a live example of each)
  • Q&A

This seminar can be fully customized with your list of topics. This webinar focuses on the ways faculty can use it and is not student-centered.

Length: Between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on Q&A.

Suggested Size: We recommend no more than 30 participants due to the number of questions we see in this webinar.

Lecture Engagement Technology Tools

Faculty working in a synchronous or hybrid classroom can struggle with student engagement. While many faculty report preferring not to host a "lecture" and rather, hold an interactive session, they feel overwhelmed with the tools it takes to do so. This webinar bridges that gap. Faculty participants not only learn the tools but are expected to be full participants just as their students would be! This is a very "hands on" webinar.

  • Technology tools for engagement
  • Live tool demonstration with participation
  • Padlet, Menti and others
  • Q&A

This seminar can be fully customized with your list of topics.

Length: Between 75 and 120 minutes, depending on Q&A.

Suggested Size: We recommend no more than 30 participants due to time it takes to load tools and practice time.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion is an intentionally comprehensive way to reach a goal. Sometimes called multiculturalism, it is accepting and promoting people’s differences. In this seminar, we improve EDI understanding, raise awareness and provide examples of how to help students feel welcome in the classroom. Participants are encouraged to share and will be given opportunities to do so, but many choose to listen and absorb instead.

  • What is Equity, Diversity and Inclusion?
  • Age, gender, religion, disability, sexual orientation, race
  • Promotion of diversity using activities to help students recognize and embrace differences
  • Self reflection - assumptions, personal history, our role as educators
  • Q&A

This seminar can be fully customized with your topics and for your country's definitions.

Length: Between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on Q&A.

Suggested Size: This tends to be more seminar style and reflective in nature, and we do not have a suggested size.

Interpreting Plagiarism Detection Tool Results

Faculty using plagiarism detection tools report feeling confused or unprepared about the interpretation of results. A high match does not automatically constitute plagiarism and a low match does not mean the student did not plagiarize. Accusing students of cheating is serious and doing so incorrectly can have lasting effects. On the contrary, not catching cheaters due to the insecurity around knowing what the scores mean lets students who need intervention go without.

  • Popular plagiarism detection tools
  • What constitutes plagiarism
  • How do the tools work
  • How to interpret the results
  • Live demonstration
  • Q&A

This seminar can be fully customized with your list of topics or specific tool(s).

Length: Between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on Q&A.

Suggested Size: This tends to be more seminar style and does not have a suggested size.
