Babb Education course development kickoff meeting
By working with clients to create a clear and structured process, we ensure a smooth, collaborative partnership that reflects the vision and goals for your institution’s course or program. From the very first conversation to project completion, works with clients to design courses that truly meet the needs of students. Here’s a closer look at each phase of a course development or redesign project.

First Meeting: Establishing the Foundation

During the first meeting with , clients meet Dani Babb, Founder and CEO and Jennifer Levy, Director of eLearning. The goal of this meeting is to understand the client's unique needs and objectives. Key activities during this phase include discussing their current challenges, goals, and needs, whether the client or will provide Subject Matter Experts (SME), and what kind of media they are interested in. This foundational meeting ensures both parties are aligned, fostering a collaborative environment from the outset. Once the scope of work has been agreed upon and the contract signed, a Project Manager is assigned to the client. The Project Manager then curates a team of instructional designers, media specialists (if needed), and quality reviewers.

Kickoff Meeting: Charting the Course

The kickoff meeting brings together the team (including the Director of eLearning, the Project Manager and instructional designers) and the client’s team which can include a Project Manager, Subject Matter Expert, and potentially the client’s instructional designer or Program Manager. This comprehensive session focuses on clarifying project objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success metrics, along with determining preferred project management tools, communication protocols, process steps, and meeting schedules. This meeting serves as the official launch of the project, setting the tone for collaboration, expectation setting, and detailed planning.

Weekly or Bi-Weekly Meetings: Maintaining Momentum

Consistent progress on course development projects requires frequent meetings or check-ins to:

  • Monitor Progress: Review completed tasks, upcoming milestones, and overall project status.
  • Address Challenges: Discuss any obstacles encountered and collaboratively develop solutions.
  • Provide Feedback: Offer constructive feedback on deliverables to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Adjust Plans: Make necessary adjustments to timelines, resources, or strategies based on the project's evolving needs.

These meetings help to ensure the project remains on track and all team members are informed and engaged.

Review: Ensuring Quality and Alignment

When a week of course content is complete it then goes to a Quality Reviewer who assess the instructional materials against the established objectives and quality standards. Instructional Designers then implement edits/changes based on the reviewer’s feedback. Once edits are completed, the course content is sent to the client for review and approval. Once approved, the instructional designer loads the course content into the client’s learning management system.

Completion/Signoff: Celebrating Success

Upon successful review and approval of all course content, the project reaches its completion. Activities in this final stage include Babb Education handing over all necessary documentation, files, guides, and resources to support implementation. Then, after obtaining official signoff from the client, indicating satisfaction with the deliverables, the team and the client team meet for a debrief session to reflect on the project's successes and areas for improvement, fostering continuous growth for future collaborations.

This stage marks the culmination of the collaborative effort, resulting in a product that enhances student learning experiences and achieves the client's educational goals. Partnering with instructional design team offers a comprehensive and structured approach to developing impactful educational content. commitment to collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement ensures each project not only meets but exceeds expectations, contributing to the advancement of effective learning solutions. She ensured clear navigation, precise citations, and well-aligned learning objectives, making the course both structured and engaging. Beyond her technical and pedagogical strengths, Dr. Heisey demonstrated remarkable patience, professionalism, and a collaborative mindset. She values feedback, thoughtfully applies it to enhance course content and fosters an inclusive and respectful team environment. As a curriculum lead, professor, and student engagement expert, she brings a thoughtful and effective approach to learning design. I highly recommend her for her dedication to learner success and instructional excellence.”
